The assault resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
